Publishing Growth

In 2026, I expanded my business to publish for other authors. The growth so far this year has been amazing... and humbling. I appreciate the authors who have trusted me with their writings. It is a joy for me to do this work, and it will be my primary focus when I retire (in a few years:)

Family Time - Sister Time!

In addition to my sister traveling to Iowa for a visit, we celebrated my grandson Shepherd's baptism. There is so much to be thankful for. Grandma's advice comes to the surface again: "Keep your calendar full." And my addition to that is: "Live a full life to avoid looking back with regrets." Family is the center of that philosophy.

Vendor Season

Vendor season is in full swing, and after five years of setting up my pop-up store across Northwest Iowa, it's been rewarding to see repeat customers alongside new ones. New books this season include: Toddler Treasure Hunt, A B C Zoo!, Numbers, Numbers, Count With Me! with co-author Lynda Lowery, Where the Kaleidoscopes Turn, Kaleidoscope Coloring Book, and TGP Word Search.

Author Swaps

In this section, I've featured authors who are promoting one of my books in their newsletters. I am doing likewise. Please take a moment to read about their books.

A Sister For Me

A Sister for Me is a delightful rhyming storybook that celebrates the magic of sisterhood. With giggles, games, and endless fun, two sisters share their days side by side — making memories that sparkle like sunshine.

Through playful verses and charming illustrations, this heartwarming tale shows how sisters grow together, then find their own paths, while the love between them remains forever.

Perfect for bedtime reading, sibling bonding, or as a thoughtful gift, A Sister for Me is a timeless reminder that even as life changes, the bond of sisters never fades.

Hike the Valley of Fire

Imagine towering red rocks, exciting trails, and brave twins ready to explore it all! "The Adventure Twins Hike the Valley of Fire" is packed with adventure, discovery, and a whole lot of fun, perfect for little explorers and you!

Join Vicki and David, 8-year-old twins, as they hike with their parents through the red rocks of Nevada. Vicki loves to climb, but David is afraid. When his baseball cap flies up onto a high rock formation, will he overcome his fear to retrieve it?

Your little ones (and you!) will learn fun facts about the rock formations while viewing the author's stunning photos of Valley of Fire State Park throughout the book.

And Vicki and David will inspire children to help one another in solving problems!

This is the first book in the Adventure Twins series!

Where will they go next?

Questions for the Sky

When a child loses someone they love, big feelings and even bigger questions can follow. Questions for the Sky is a gentle kids' book about grief that helps children ages 4–8 understand loss in a comforting, hopeful way.

Through the quiet friendship between a grieving child and a tender little fawn, young readers learn that love doesn’t disappear—it stays in memories, in nature, and in the heart. With soothing sky imagery and soft, reassuring language, this picture book about loss supports children as they process sadness, confusion, and love after losing a parent, grandparent, or loved one.

This book also includes simple reflection activities and a short caregiver note to help open meaningful conversations about grief.
A tender story of healing, remembrance, and comfort for hurting hearts.
Order your copy of Questions for the Sky today and give a child the reassurance that love always stays.

Thank you for staying up-to-date!

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter August 17, 2026 Pacific Northwest Every year I travel back to where I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Specifically, Mount Vernon, Washington, which is an hour north of Seattle. This trip was packed with visiting family, working with Erica DeWaard on her first book signing event as well as planning her publishing schedule for the year, and attending my 40th high school class reunion. Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter July 13, 2026 Publisher/Presentor This summer, I took my late grandmother's advice to "keep your calendar full." Her philosophy was that if you keep your calendar full, you'll look back on your life with no regrets. However, I'm inclined to add one amendment: "while making sure your life is balanced." Even though balance is sometimes challenging, I feel this has been accomplished. My calendar has been filled with Library visits, library presentations, vendor...

Award-Winning Author

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter June 15, 2026 I'm a Finalist - AGAIN! To be honest, it was a surprise for me to learn that I won two more finalist awards for Beneath the Blue. Yeah, I had forgotten that I had entered and hadn't saved the paperwork. This is typical 'me' behavior, and fortunately, this time, it was a great surprise and not an 'oh no, what do I do now?' Again, it's more validation of the quality of my writing. I never need to be the best writer out there, and I know that I'm...
