Surprise! An Unexpected NEW BOOK!

Sometimes I get ideas that pop into my head in the middle of the night. This past winter, I had one of those nights when I couldn't sleep and ideas swirled around in my head. I have learned that my only recourse (if I want to get any sleep) is to get up and jot those ideas down.

Whenever I finish a project, my brain begins searching for the next project. The first place I go to is my idea notebook. Since this is tulip season, I chose an idea I'd had about a tulip named Tip-Toe, who struggles with wanting to bloom before her time.

I am happy to announce that my new book, The Tulip Who Took Her Time: A Story of Hope for Late Bloomers, will be launching on June 1.

Count down to 2025-06-01T04:00:00.000Z

The Tulip Who Took Her Time

Tip-Toe's dream of blooming in time for the Tulip Festival seemed impossible. Her neighbors scoff at her and remind her that only blooming tulips are chosen to decorate the floats for the grand parade. Tip-Toe couldn't help but sulk, feeling like she would never find her place in this year’s festival.

But then, a new friend comes to her rescue. Benny the bee shows her the key to unlocking her full potential - a little more sunlight. With the help of a hungry caterpillar, Tip-Toe finally receives the warmth and light she needs. As a result, her bright red petals burst open, just in time for the parade. And when the Tulip Festival Princess notices her, Tip-Toe's wildest dreams come true!

This heartwarming tale reminds us that everyone blooms in their own time, and that timing is everything! With charming illustrations and a powerful message, this book is perfect for readers 6-8.

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter March 16, 2026 First Show of 2026! As I finished my first show for 2026, I reflected on my very first show in the Spring of 2022. The pandemic was winding down, and people were starting to get back into their regular routines. For that first show, I had one published book, "The Snail That Wanted To Hop!" I was so excited that night because I had sold 11 copies! This gave me a lot of confidence and motivated me to publish the next one. From October of 2019 until...

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter February 16, 2026 Love is in the Air! Happy Valentin's Day Yes, I love my cat. George has been with us for about 10 years now, and we think he is 13-14 years old. My husband and I adopted him from the Humane Society in Fort Dodge, IA. He is an independent kitty and knows what he wants. George is an indoor/outdoor cat, and these rare warm days throw him into bouts of spring fever. For all of you dog people out there, I am a dog person, too. We switched from...

Half would cover basic concepts and skills, and the other half would address social-emotional learning. Well, the timing was perfect when I ran into Lynda Lowery at a vendor show. As it turns out, she was thinking the same thing regarding books for early learners. Lynda Lowery Lynda and I decided to...
