First Show of 2026!
As I finished my first show for 2026, I reflected on my very first show in the Spring of 2022. The pandemic was winding down, and people were starting to get back into their regular routines.
For that first show, I had one published book, "The Snail That Wanted To Hop!" I was so excited that night because I had sold 11 copies! This gave me a lot of confidence and motivated me to publish the next one.
From October of 2019 until February 2022, I wrote 10 stories. During that time, I learned what it took to self-publish. Through that process, I made a lot of small mistakes but studied hard to avoid making any big ones. Even though I was ignorant about publishing at the time, it was a wise decision to become a student and learn.
My purpose is to add value to the world by helping kids become better humans. Currently, I have published 18 books (2 co-authored with Lynda Lowery). I couldn't have comprehended that in 2019.
I continue to feel motivated to write a diverse catalog of stories, and am driven to grow Tall Girl Publishing into an ever-growing, productive company.
The future looks bright, and I want to thank you for helping me get to where I am. I appreciate you!

"I wanted to read this book because I also wrote a similar book. Or so I thought! Mine is about the making of the stand and the silly fun it involved. This book goes 6 steps beyond, and I found it very insightful. The kind I wish I could have read at 12 years old or given to my daughter. Excellent delivery of all the steps from a business angle so that ALL kids can learn. The author has extensive experience with education and communication with our youth. Well done! I highly recommend this book and would make an excellent gift idea for all kids."
When I'm Not Writing Books . . . I create coloring books!
Technology has made it easier to create coloring books, and for a while now, I've been toying with the idea of creating some.
Currently, I'm working on a project to promote the Kaleidoscopes of Pocahontas County. Last month I finished a chapter book featuring them, but couldn't get the thought out of my mind to create a coloring book for kids who are too young to read the chapter book.
Here is an example of what a couple of pages look like. This coloring book will be available in April of this year.

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter February 16, 2026 Love is in the Air! Happy Valentin's Day Yes, I love my cat. George has been with us for about 10 years now, and we think he is 13-14 years old. My husband and I adopted him from the Humane Society in Fort Dodge, IA. He is an independent kitty and knows what he wants. George is an indoor/outdoor cat, and these rare warm days throw him into bouts of spring fever. For all of you dog people out there, I am a dog person, too. We switched from...
Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter January 19, 2026 New Year, New Series! Joan Enockson With two new grandbabies arriving in 2026, my mind shifted to wishing I had a preschool or toddler series. Half would cover basic concepts and skills, and the other half would address social-emotional learning. Well, the timing was perfect when I ran into Lynda Lowery at a vendor show. As it turns out, she was thinking the same thing regarding books for early learners. Lynda Lowery Lynda and I decided to...
