Love is in the Air!
Happy Valentin's Day
Yes, I love my cat. George has been with us for about 10 years now, and we think he is 13-14 years old. My husband and I adopted him from the Humane Society in Fort Dodge, IA. He is an independent kitty and knows what he wants. George is an indoor/outdoor cat, and these rare warm days throw him into bouts of spring fever.
For all of you dog people out there, I am a dog person, too. We switched from caring for dogs for many years to a cat--mainly because we travel more, and cats can be easier to care for with our busy schedules.

When I'm Not Writing Books . . . I mess around with AI!
It is seriously crazy what AI can do, and downright scary that this is only the beginning of it.
I try to keep up with technology because it is the world in which my students live. But it is mind-boggling to think what changes my generation (GenX) has experienced.
The first computer I ever used was in my freshman year of college. We've transitioned from analog to digital — landlines to cellular, typing to speech-to-text, and from the first cell phones that could be plugged into the cigarette lighter in your car to smartphones, and the evolution of touch screens.
Lately, the trend has been to have AI transform your likeness into a scene that expresses a part of who you are, whether it's your job, a hobby, or a fantasy.
This is the AI-generated image of my jazz singing side gig. Enjoy! (There's always a part of your brain that says, I wish I actually looked that good) Ha!

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter January 19, 2026 New Year, New Series! Joan Enockson With two new grandbabies arriving in 2026, my mind shifted to wishing I had a preschool or toddler series. Half would cover basic concepts and skills, and the other half would address social-emotional learning. Well, the timing was perfect when I ran into Lynda Lowery at a vendor show. As it turns out, she was thinking the same thing regarding books for early learners. Lynda Lowery Lynda and I decided to...
Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter December 15, 2025 Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Joan Enockson My holiday vendor season is over, and I'm looking forward to working on a few new books. My goal for 2025 was five new books, but I needed to adjust it a bit, and ended the year with four: Cows With Bangs - March 2025 Moonbeam's Halloween Wish - March 2025 The Tulip Who Took Her Time - June 2025 Beneath the Blue - August 2025 Beneath the Blue earned a FINALIST award in the American Writing Awards...
Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter November 17, 2025 The Holiday Season Is In Full Force! Joan Enockson During this past month, I have met wonderful people who are gearing up for the holiday season. They support reading for their children, or the children who hold a special place in their lives. I have found that people appreciate the lessons in each book, which helps children become better humans. This warms my heart because my primary goal has been to add value to the world. I LOVE seeing TGP...
