Library Visits in June!

This has been a fantastic month for public library visits! I was invited to present at the Lu Verne, Pomeroy, and Ringsted Public Libraries, all located in Iowa. One of my favorite challenges is tailoring my presentation to the guests in attendance. My primary goal is to keep everyone engaged and entertained.

I also spent a lot of time updating my website. If you haven't checked it out lately, give it a go. Click the button below!

"We thoroughly enjoyed Joan's visit to the Pomeroy Library. The children loved watching the presentation and hearing about how she creates the characters for her stories, and enjoyed the activity. We would love to have her come back for another visit."

-Brandy Watts, Pomeroy Library Director

"Joan's interaction with the group was age-oriented and very engaging! She had all the kids participating and enjoying her stories! We will have her back!"

-D. Jorgensen, Ringsted Public Library

Kaida Brightscales and the Magical Meadows

Kaida Brightscales loves to explore. And when the shimmering winged creature crosses paths with a busy butterfly and a focused ant, she’s delighted to discover that they’re working hard at very important jobs. But after she spots her sick bee friend, she’s not sure how to help her feel better.

Bothered by the news that all the bees in the hive are ill, Kaida asks her insect buddies to help her find some medicine. And as the thoughtful youngster grows to understand more about how nature needs to be in harmony, she realizes she’s taken on a really big job.

Can she and her tiny chums stay strong and get everyone buzzing back to health?

Kaida Brightscales and the Magical Meadows is the first book in the Beehive Secrets series for children ages 4-6. If you or your child like vivid and beautiful illustrations, fun ways to learn about nature, and making new friends, then you’ll love Xanda Monteiro’s tale of teamwork.

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter March 16, 2026 First Show of 2026! As I finished my first show for 2026, I reflected on my very first show in the Spring of 2022. The pandemic was winding down, and people were starting to get back into their regular routines. For that first show, I had one published book, "The Snail That Wanted To Hop!" I was so excited that night because I had sold 11 copies! This gave me a lot of confidence and motivated me to publish the next one. From October of 2019 until...

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter February 16, 2026 Love is in the Air! Happy Valentin's Day Yes, I love my cat. George has been with us for about 10 years now, and we think he is 13-14 years old. My husband and I adopted him from the Humane Society in Fort Dodge, IA. He is an independent kitty and knows what he wants. George is an indoor/outdoor cat, and these rare warm days throw him into bouts of spring fever. For all of you dog people out there, I am a dog person, too. We switched from...

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter January 19, 2026 New Year, New Series! Joan Enockson With two new grandbabies arriving in 2026, my mind shifted to wishing I had a preschool or toddler series. Half would cover basic concepts and skills, and the other half would address social-emotional learning. Well, the timing was perfect when I ran into Lynda Lowery at a vendor show. As it turns out, she was thinking the same thing regarding books for early learners. Lynda Lowery Lynda and I decided to...
