New Year, New Series!

With two new grandbabies arriving in 2026, my mind shifted to wishing I had a preschool or toddler series. Half would cover basic concepts and skills, and the other half would address social-emotional learning.

Well, the timing was perfect when I ran into Lynda Lowery at a vendor show. As it turns out, she was thinking the same thing regarding books for early learners.

Lynda and I decided to co-author this series! It is called "Bright Beginnings for Little Learners." We are combining her 30+ years of daycare experience with my years in education to create a fun and engaging toddler series.

The first book, "Toddler Treasure Hunt," combines the ten most popular colors with a seek-and-find treasure hunt! The good news is that it is now available in both paperback and hardcover formats!

When I'm Not Writing Books . . . I create in my classroom!

This month, my students are creating a business. They create and vote on a business name, logo, marketing, and pricing of products. They also make all of the products. I incorporate sewing and 3D engineering skills when selecting products to create. This year's theme is items to clip onto a backpack, which is very popular with middle school and high school students.

Here is a little owl I made out of upcycled denim.

Writing Activities for Kids

Kaida Brightscales loves to explore. And when the shimmering winged creature crosses paths with a busy butterfly and a focused ant, she’s delighted to discover that they’re working hard at very important jobs.

But after she spots her sick bee friend, she’s not sure how to help her feel better. Bothered by the news that all the bees in the hive are ill, Kaida asks her insect buddies to help her find some medicine. And as the thoughtful youngster grows to understand more about how nature needs to be in harmony, she realizes she’s taken on a really big job. Can she and her tiny chums stay strong and get everyone buzzing back to health?

Kaida Brightscales and the Magical Meadows is the first book in the Beehive Secrets series for children ages 4-6.

If you or your child like vivid and beautiful illustrations, fun ways to learn about nature, and making new friends, then you’ll love Xanda Monteiro’s tale of teamwork.

Tall Girl Publishing Newsletter November 17, 2025 The Holiday Season Is In Full Force! Joan Enockson During this past month, I have met wonderful people who are gearing up for the holiday season. They support reading for their children, or the children who hold a special place in their lives. I have found that people appreciate the lessons in each book, which helps children become better humans. This warms my heart because my primary goal has been to add value to the world. I have learned that it's important to attend vendor shows in new areas. Sales are usually better when my booth is 'new and shiny' at vendor shows. I love finding new customers and sharing with them what Tall Girl Publishing is all about. My husband and I attend about 30 vendor shows a year, and I haven't come across another...
